I first met Shannon and Tom in 2011 at a Panera Bread, located Strongsville Ohio, discussing the details of their upcoming Fall wedding that would take place on October 20, 2012. David Petkiewicz, who is my wedding shooting partner, and I presented our wedding portfolio in hopes to have the privilege to capture the most important day in their lives. Shannon and Tom gave us their trust and both David and I captured one of the most beautiful and fun weddings that we have ever photographed.

Just a few days before mother nature sent Cleveland the arctic freeze with sub-zero temperatures, CK and Gene tied the knot in Willowick Ohio at Willowick City Hall on a day that was very pleasant for early January. Family and close friends enjoyed some great string music from musicians strumming a cello and violin during their ceremony. The weather was warm enough (for Cleveland standards) to take a few photos outside behind City Hall to capture the beautiful sky with snow glimmering in the foreground. The reception was just a few blocks down the road at the Cabin restaurant. If you would like to view the entire collection of photos, click on the gallery link listed at the bottom of this page.
Enjoy.

August 25th was not only a beautiful day, but it also happened to be the 50 year wedding anniversary for Joe and Sue. That’s the real story behind this blog. Joe and Sue took the family down to Quail Hill Winery, located in Berlin Hts Ohio off of Mason Rd, to enjoy a beautiful day at the vineyards. The portrait session included their daughter and son, along with their two grandchildren and both daughter and son-in-law. This family is actually an extended family through my place of work. I’ve know Joe and his daughter and son-in-law for over 10 years. As a matter of fact, the last time I have seen Joe’s granddaughters was when they were toddlers. Where has time gone?

Metro PCS celebrated their move to the Cleveland area at the House of Blues on Wednesday, August 28th 2013. Rock the House Entertainment Group (RTH Group) put on another spectacular party with killer tunes and accent lighting. The night started off with a meeting in the Foundation room with the new local branch members followed by a cocktail hour that let employees network with local vendors on the 2nd floor of the main stage area. Guest and employees were also treated with a stage setup solely for Wii Rock Band. If that wasn't enough, the RTH Group was taking green screen photos with props for everyone and on-location prints. Tons of fun at the House of Blues! As the night moved to the midpoint, the RTH Group treated everyone with some killer dance tunes by their top-notch DJs. All in all, everyone had fun and Metro PCS couldn't have chosen a better venue. Listed below are some photos from the event.

Date Night at the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo
The Cleveland Zoological Society hosted another great event at the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo on Friday, August 23rd, 2013. The weather couldn't have been better and a few hundred dates enjoyed one of America's classics, Back to the Future. TheGreat Lakes Brewing Co.kept everyone hydrated with Dortmunder Gold and Eliot Ness draft beers. Food was also plentiful and absolutely delicious! Soon after entering the park, guest got a chance to pick up an ice cold beer and some tasty Hors d'oeuvres before visiting some of the parks residents, such as the lions and elephants. The movie, Back to the Future, started shortly after dusk and the hundreds of guests settled on the lawn with a beer and box of popcorn in hand. I've added a few photos from the night below and there's a link at the bottom of this blog to view the entire photo gallery. Enjoy.

It's that time of the year again and there's nothing better than remembering what it was like to rush home from school, eat a quick dinner, and then head to the ball park. I miss little league but watching these little kids enjoy what I did many years ago makes my day, any day of the week. The Old Brooklyn Area Little League, also known as OBALL, kicked off their opening day on Saturday May 18th, 2013 at Lowe Park.

Mysterious World of Owls
Wolf Creek Environment Center, Hosted by volunteers from the Medina Raptor Center
My wife and I got a chance to see one of our favorite raptors, which happens to be any of the owl species, up close at the Wolf Creek Environment Center in Sharon Township. Due to a misprint of the start time in the newspaper a few of us arrived a half hour late. This actually worked out great because the the volunteers from the Medina Raptor Center revised the schedule and let a second group view the raptors following the originally 7PM scheduled viewing.
Of all the things I've been able to photograph in the wild, the Owl has eluded my camera for the most part. The program included four different species of owls with my favorite being the Great Horned Owl. The first two raptors were smaller owls, approximately 7-10 inches in height, with the first being an Eastern Screech and the second an Eastern Screech Owl in it's gray phase. Screech owls are named for their piercing calls and the volunteers played a few recorded bird calls for the audience to hear. These little guys look cute but they're pure killers. Their talons and beaks are designed to tear their prey to pieces so they can swallow bite size chunks. Cool? Not yet, there's even more great owls to see.

I purchased a Canon 5D Mark III recently to compliment my Canon 5D Mark II. So far, I absolutely love the new Mark III. The autofocus is much more accurate and faster, especially in low light, and the silent shutter mode is a blessing during ceremonies. With the 5D Mark II, I got in the habit to only use the center focus point for everything. The outer focus points on the Mark II are simply not that reliable. I do NOT have this problem on the new camera body (Mark III). I can also see about a stop difference in noise at higher ISOs in favor of the Mark III over the Mark II. While searching for information on the Mark III, I came across this site that has some very useful camera settings that make the Mark III become an even better tool for event work: Canon EOS 5D Mark III AF and Custom Function Settings
